Para-sailing

I found this sport to look scarier than it actually was, and I’m afraid of heights! Once you are up in the air, it is really exhilarating and quiet and peaceful at the same time. And the views are unequalled! Equipment and service for papa-sailing is offered by the higher priced resorts. Para-sailing will give you a fantastic aerial view of your resort and the surroundings.

Catamaran Sailing

Sailing a catamaran can be relaxing and refreshing. Take your snorkel and fins along and slip into the water at times to observe the water life all around you.

Fishing

Many resorts provide their guests with the adventure of night fishing using the traditional local style fishing line with weights. If fishing for big game is more your style, check with your resort for arrangements for Big Game Fishing on fast boats. Fishing in the Maldives is an adventure to be remembered for experienced fishermen and novices alike.

Whale and Dolphin Watching

Over 20 different whale and dolphin species can be seen in the Maldives. Compare this with the handful or less that are regularly seen at most other destinations and you will see why the Maldives is so attractive for whale and dolphin watchers. Look out for whales and dolphins on any boat trip you are on. During a typical whale watching cruise in the Maldives you can expect to see a dozen or so different species. As well as all the whales and dolphins, you can also expect to see numerous seabirds, and turtles, manta rays, sailfish and whale sharks.

Canoeing

Many resorts offer canoe rentals to explore the lagoon around their own resort. For safety reasons it’s usually not possible to use canoes to travel longer distances that would require you to leave the lagoon.

Land Based Sports

You may have had a day up to your gills (no pun intended) with water sports and you just want to have a fun land based diversion. Many resorts offer badminton, beach volleyball, tennis and even soccer and squash courts. In addition, most of the resorts offer some type of game room with Caroms, ping pong, pool and a variety of board games for those who are feeling a little more physically challenged.
